Botox is the brand name of a botulinum toxin that temporarily paralyzes your muscle to prevent it from pulling on the skin to create wrinkles. Although it is a toxin, it is FDA approved and safe to inject in recommended quantities. There are 6 types of botulinum toxin on the market that are currently FDA approved. We carry 4 different types in our office that we find best for our clientele: Jeuveau, Dysport, Daxxify and Botox. We work together to choose the best one for you.
-
All are botulinum toxins, they are just manufactured by different companies. All have the same mechanism of action and give the similar results.
All are great! Some clients love Jeuveau, some love Dysport and others prefer Botox – everyone is different. The best way to find out which works best for you is to try all at different appointments. The one that worked best for you would take effect the quickest and last the longest.

Botox appointments are surprisingly easy and comfortable. You will feel a small prick when the needle is inserted. Upon request, we use distraction devices as well as offer pro-nox “laughing gas”.

There are multiple areas you can treat including:
Horizontal lines across your forehead
"Mean 11s" or vertical frown lines between your eyebrows
"Bunny lines" or lines near the bridge of your nose
"Crow's feet" or lines at the corner of your eyes
Gummy Smiles
Lip Flips
Vertical lines around the mouth also known as “smoker lines” (these can be genetic, no smoking required to obtain them)
Downturned corners of the mouth
Dimpling chin
Massesters or for TMJ
Horizontal lines across the neck
Underarms for excessive sweating
Botulinum toxin looks the most natural when you treat every area with a smaller amount versus freezing one area with a large amount.
-
It takes anywhere from 2-14 days to see results, but you must wait a full two weeks before any additional treatments or touch-ups.
-
It should last anywhere from 3-4 months. Daxxify can last longer than other toxins (up to 6 months) if proper dosing is used.
-
Immediately after treatment there will often be red little bumps akin to a tiny mosquito bite on the skin. They subside within 10-15 minutes after treatment. There is always a low risk of bruising and we recommend to follow pre treatment instructions to avoid this.
-
Cost depends on the number of units used and how many areas are being treated. On average, it can range anywhere from $200-$600.
-
We won't know until we see you. At the time of your appointment, we will make recommendations based on the results you are trying to achieve in a certain area. Some areas will need more units because the muscle is larger and stronger, while other areas will only need a couple.
-
The appointment takes approximately 30 minutes, but the treatment itself is less than 10 minutes. Majority of your appointment is spent going over the service and answering any questions you may have about your treatment.
-
We typically recommend avoiding large amounts of alcohol 72 hours before, caffeine day of and any NSAIDS/Blood thinners 1 weeks prior to your treatment to minimize bleeding/bruising. Please consult your physician before stopping any prescription medications.
-
When you leave your appointment we recommend you DO NOT do the following:
DO NOT lay flat on your back for 3 hours following treatment. This prevents the botulinum toxin from migrating to other areas not treated.
DO NOT exercise or engage in any activities that will cause you to sweat from areas treated for 24 hours!
DO NOT massage areas treated, receive a facial or massage for 48 hours.
No hats or headbands that could put pressure on the areas treated for 24 hours
If you want to put makeup on over the areas treated make sure you use a clean applicator.
