Sculptra Corrects Facial Wrinkles and Boosts Your Collagen With Lasting Results
Sculptra is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved product for correcting shallow to deep nasolabial fold (between the nose and mouth) contour deficiencies, fine lines, and other facial wrinkles. We use it beyond what is FDA-approved as an injectable for replacing lost volume and treating the loss of elasticity of the skin. When performed by a licensed provider, clients can expect to see results for up to two years.
What is Sculptra?
As the body ages, collagen is lost leading to dehydration and thinning of the skin. This is when fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. Sculptra injections use poly-L-lactic acid, to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. Sculptra works to rebuild collagen restoring your skin’s inner structure and volume. By treating the underlying causes of aging, Sculptra treatment can last up to two years.
As a collagen stimulator, the goal of the treatment is to encourage your body to build more collagen in the areas that are injected. We find it most effective on our mature patients wanting to replace volume in their face due to aging or significant weight loss or as a skin treatment for crepey skin and loss of elasticity.
How Long Does Sculptra Last?
A US clinical study showed results lasting up to 25 months for the treatment of nasolabial fold wrinkles. The study tested both men and women with skin tones ranging from pale to dark skin.
Results will appear gradually and will depend on wrinkle depth, volume loss, or skin elasticity before treatment. Clients will typically need a series of injections over a few months to see the best results. Patients will see peak results about three months after their final appointment. Yearly maintenance is typically recommended and should be maintained for prolonged effectiveness.

Are Sculptra Injections Safe?
Sculptra was tested to ensure it was safe and effective. As it is non-invasive, this cosmetic treatment is often a great alternative to plastic surgery for many individuals. It is not recommended to have other treatments on the same day you receive Sculptra injections.
Sculptra is not recommended for those that are pregnant, planning to get pregnant or are breastfeeding.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
All areas of the face can be safely injected, with the exception of under the eyes and the lips. Common areas of the face treated with Sculptra include the forehead, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds, and other areas. Our experienced team will make recommendations based on your individual goals and on achieving increased facial balancing for you.
Preparing for Sculptra Filler
There are no preparations needed for your Sculptra appointment. Remove all makeup prior to dermal filler treatment.
Contact us if you have an active skin inflammation or infection near the planned injection site.
Guidelines for After Sculptra Treatment
You may have a bit of swelling in the treated area the first 24 hours after treatment. You can apply a cloth-wrapped ice pack to the site for a few minutes at a time.
Remember the rule of 5s - massage the area for 5 minutes a day, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This helps to disperse the Sculptra injected evenly and avoid nodules building under the skin. Your medical injector will demonstrate this for you and answer any questions you have.
Avoid sunlight and UV exposure after treatment until any swelling or redness is gone. Always wear sunscreen and use sun protection when you are outside.
Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after your session.
In most patients, side effects are mild. You may experience some common side effects such as swelling, tenderness, redness, bruising, or lumps. These typically resolve quickly in a few hours and up to one week.
Makeup can be applied a few hours after if you haven’t noticed any complications.
You are unlikely to see dramatic results immediately after treatment, but they will build gradually with time. For full results, maintain your follow-up appointments you and your medical injector will discuss in your initial consultation.
Wrinkles may temporarily reappear as there is a gradual replacement of collagen working within the skin. You will begin to see progressive, visible results a few weeks after each session. Improvement is gradual, so it won’t appear that you’ve had work done.
Most patients can return to normal activity the day following their treatment.
